The desire to create beautiful, functional, and innovative surfboards, and to share these creations with surfers of all abilities was the driving force for establishing Rider Surfboards.
Kevin built his first surfboard in 2009 and knew right then that this would not simply be a hobby. In the years since then, he immersed himself in all things surfboards. He spent two years as head shaping instructor for Greenlight Surf Supply under Brian Gagliana and honed his skills as a shaper through the teaching of others. He then moved on to UnderToe Glassing Co. as a contract glasser under the direction of Brandon Winn and it is there that he developed a love for working with resin while glassing for many of the tri-state area’s top shapers. He has also seen personal direction from Thomas Mahady and Earl Moore, furthering the combined years of experience he draws from.
This unique blend of experience, direction, and personal ideas and conceptions has led to a reputation for consistently beautiful, high quality surfboards. Each board is 100% hand shaped, glassed, and sanded by Kevin to customers’ specifications and he still takes pride in each and every one. Read some testimonials here.
Kevin has seen multiple appearances in ESM Magazine and was asked to participate in a Surfline.com feature focusing on the shaping community in Northern NJ that can be viewed here.
